The Brewers got a much needed team win today vs the Indians, 2-1. Great pitching by Mike Ramirez and AJ De La Riva, who gave up only 1 run between them. The defense was excellent! The hitting was led by Tyler Helm, who scored both of the Brewers runs and also stole 2 bases and Mark Valente, who had 3 hits and drove in both Brewers runs. The Brewers head into the all star break with a 4-4 record, and play again next on July 14 vs the Tribu in Livingston.

The Brewers were unable to sweep the Bulldogs, losing today, 5-3. Defense was a factor, with only 2 of the Bulldogs 5 runs scored being earned runs. Our bats remain cold, with the exception being Dawson Downs, who had 4 hits, including a double, the Brewers only extra base hit of the day. The Brewers try to get back on track next week, vs the 5-2 Indians.
A great team win today vs last year's defending champs, the Bulldogs. The final was 5-2, with Mark Valente pitching lights out again, giving up only 1 earned run in 7 1/3 innings pitched. Tommy Miller made a spot start, and gave up no earned runs in 2/3 of an inning. AJ De La Riva closed it out and got the save, getting the last 3 batters to ground out. Our defense was excellent once again stellar, with the infield accounting for 18 of the 27 outs, including a beautiful 6 to 4 to 3 double play, to end a 6th inning rally. Tyler Helm filled up the box score with 3 hits, 2 runs, an RBI and 4 stolen bases. David Lopez also had 3 hits and Pedro Acosta had 2 hits, with both scoring a run apiece. Manny Zaragoza had a timely 2 RBI Triple in the 3rd inning that gave the Brewers a 4-1 lead, The Brewers play the Bulldogs again next week, hosting them at home. Another tough loss for the Central Valley Brewers vs the first place Indians, 4-3. Key errors cost us, as 3 out of the 4 runs were unearned. Another good week of pitching, with David Lopez leading the way, giving up only 1 unearned run in 6 1/3 innings pitched. Ricardo Gomez and Mark Valente closed it out, allowing 0 earned runs the rest of the way. Jake Olafson led the offense, getting 3 hits, scoring a run and added 3 stolen bases. Rafa Arroyo and Mark Valente had 2 hits a piece. The loss brings the Brewers record to 2-3. We will have a chance to even up our Win/Loss record this week against the defending champ Bulldogs, who are coming off a win, and also have a record of 2-3.
A nice win today vs Tribu. After giving up 2 runs in the first inning, the Brewers gave up no more runs the rest of the game, led by a dominant pitching performance by Mark Valente, pitching 7 innings and giving up 0 runs and only 5 hits, while striking out 7, while only walking 2. The defense was stellar, led by the play of the year so far in the 7th inning, when Tyler Helm dove to his right on a hard hit grounder, hopped up and threw a strike to 1st baseman David Lopez for the 3rd out of the inning. Offensively, both Mark Valente and AJ De La Riva had 3 hits. Rafa Arroyo had a timely double that drove in 2 runs, and ended up with 2 hits for the day. Pedro Acosta and Tyler Helm also had 2 hits each, and scored 3 out of our 4 runs. Next up @ the Indians, where the Brewers try to win 2 in a row for the first time this year. |
