A tough exit to the 2023 season, as the Burros beat the Brewers, 4-0. Nick Rosen pitched 7 1/3 strong innings (105 pitches), giving up 2 ER and striking out 6. Great game offensively for Matthew Farias and Tyler Helm, with Matthew going 3 for 3 with a stolen base and Tyler going 2 for 2, with 2 BB and 2 stolen bases. Tyler also dominated defensively, constantly making outstanding plays at SS, to keep the Burros in check and within striking distance. Unfortunately, we did not get the timely hits, and ended up on the losing end. Overall, it was a good season, with a first place regular season 11-2 record for the Brewers. We'll get 'em next year! A great team effort today by the Brewers. Matt Scott, Jose Abugarade and Jason Collie combined for the win, with Jose pitching 5 2/3 innings. Defensively, we played a great game with the infield turning a couple of double plays, and Shaun Chisholm making a great throw from LF to Brian Fabela at C, to gun down the potential go ahead run in the 9th inning. Ricky Silva then followed that up with a walk off 2-out double in the bottom of the 9th to end the game. Offensively, Ricky filled the box score with 3 hits, 1 R, 2 RBI, a SB and that walk off double. Brian also had 3 hits, including a double, to go along with 2 R, 1 RBI and a SB. Jason Coulie, AJ De La Riva, Matthew Farias, Mark Valente, Dante Jackson and Shaun all had 2 hits. Dante had 3 SBs. The Brewers end up winning the North division with a 11-2 record. Onto the playoffs next Sunday vs The Burros. The winner of that game moves onto Round 2 of the playoffs the following Sunday. The Brewers 10-game win streak came to an end today, as the Pericos won, 5-2. Great pitching by Steve Fabela, Ricardo Gomez, Jose Abugarade and Jason Coulie, who combined on 8 innings pitched and only gave up 1 earned run. Our defense was not as good as it has been, especially against the Pericos' bunts. Jason led our hitters with 2 hits, including a blast that hopped all the way to the fence. Jason also had a run scored and a stolen base. AJ De La Riva also had 2 hits and scored a run. Rafa Arroyo only had 2 ABs today, walking the first time up, and then smacking a double to the wall his 2nd time up. The 2 RBI's were hit by Steve Fabela and Shaun Chisholm. The loss dropped the Brewers into 2nd place, one half game behind the Indians, who we are scheduled to play the last game of the regular season, next week. Winner of that one takes first place seed into playoffs. The Brewers broke in a beautiful brand new home field today, Champions Field at River Islands, with a hard fought 6-4 win over the A's. That win brings the Brewers record to 10-1, with 2 games remaining. Nick Rosen pitched 7 excellent innings to bring his record to 4-0. Ricardo Gomez closed it out, pitching the 8th and 9th and picking up the Save. As for hitting, several players got a hit, with Nick, Rafa Arroyo, Mark Valente and Jose Abugarade getting 2 a piece, with Rafa and Mark each driving in 2. Great defense by all today, with Xavier making several plays at 2B, while turning several double plays. Jason Coulie made several nice grabs in CF. Next game is July 30 in Livingston vs the Pericos.
In the hottest day we have played in so far, the Brewers pulled off a 14-7 win vs the Hornets. Shut out pitching by Ricardo Gomez, Jose Abugarade, Nick Rosen and Matt Scott. Nick got the win, allowing no hits through 3 and 2/3 innings, bringing his record to 3-0. Matt finished off the game, pitching the last 2 games, and also allowing no hits. Matt chipped in with a 2-RBI triple as well. Jose Abugarade led the hitters with 3 hits, 3 RBIs and a double. Brian Fabela added 2 doubles with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Tyler Helm, Shaun Chisholm and Isaiah Martinez also had 2 hits each. The Brewers are now 9-1 with 3 games remaining before the playoffs start.
The Brewers showed determination in beating Tribu today, 8-6, doing it without several key players. A great combination of timely hitting and pitching and excellent defense! AJ De La Riva had 3 hits, including a double and a triple. Ricky Silva had 3 hits, 3 SBs and 4 RBIs. Tyler Helm got on base 4 times, with 2 hits including a double, and he had 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. Xavier Lopez had 2 hits and 3 stolen bases. Mark Valente had 2 hits after entering the game in the 5th inning, including a clutch RBI single in the 9th inning to provide an insurance run. The Brewers used 3 pitchers today, Steve Fabela, Matt Scott and Ricardo Gomez. Steve pitched the first 2.2 innings. Matt came into the game with the bases loaded in the 3rd inning and had a key strikeout to end the inning. Matt ended up with 6 Ks in just over 3 innings and only allowed 1 ER and 1 BB! Ricardo pitched the last 3 innings got the W!
The Brewers beat the Bulldogs today, 10-7 after being behind 7-0 after 2 innings. Their 2nd straight comeback from a huge deficit in two weeks. The comeback started when Ricardo Gomez went in to pitch in the 3rd inning and allowed 0 runs the rest of the game, allowing only 2 hits with 1 BB and 5 Ks. Ricardo's shutting down of the Bulldog offense for 7 innings, allowed the Brewers offense to wake up and score 10 runs in the 5th through 8th innings. The leading hitter was Rafa Arroyo, with 3 hits, including a double and 2 RBIs. Tyler Helm, AJ De La Riva, Julio and Jose Abugarade each added 2 hits apiece, including a double for each of them. The Abugarade brothers also combined on 4 RBIs, with 2 a piece. Next Sunday is all star weekend at John Thurman field with first pitch at 11 am. The Brewers enter the break in first place in the North division, with a 6-1 record.
Coming into the game short-handed, the Brewers were able to come through and secure the victory in comeback fashion. After a slow start and down 6-2 in the 5th inning, the Brewers came back from behind with the help of the bats of Ricky Silva, Shaun Chisholm, Jason Coulie, Brian Fabela, and Tyler Helm. Shaun also had a strong defensive showing, with multiple plays in the outfield, while Jason Coulie closed out the game with lights out pitching. |
