The Brewers beat the Bulldogs today, 10-7 after being behind 7-0 after 2 innings. Their 2nd straight comeback from a huge deficit in two weeks. The comeback started when Ricardo Gomez went in to pitch in the 3rd inning and allowed 0 runs the rest of the game, allowing only 2 hits with 1 BB and 5 Ks. Ricardo's shutting down of the Bulldog offense for 7 innings, allowed the Brewers offense to wake up and score 10 runs in the 5th through 8th innings. The leading hitter was Rafa Arroyo, with 3 hits, including a double and 2 RBIs. Tyler Helm, AJ De La Riva, Julio and Jose Abugarade each added 2 hits apiece, including a double for each of them. The Abugarade brothers also combined on 4 RBIs, with 2 a piece. Next Sunday is all star weekend at John Thurman field with first pitch at 11 am. The Brewers enter the break in first place in the North division, with a 6-1 record.
Coming into the game short-handed, the Brewers were able to come through and secure the victory in comeback fashion. After a slow start and down 6-2 in the 5th inning, the Brewers came back from behind with the help of the bats of Ricky Silva, Shaun Chisholm, Jason Coulie, Brian Fabela, and Tyler Helm. Shaun also had a strong defensive showing, with multiple plays in the outfield, while Jason Coulie closed out the game with lights out pitching. |
