Nick Rosen pitched a complete game giving up 2 ERs, walking 2 and striking out 4. Nick also did damage with his bat, getting 3 hits, scoring 3 runs and getting 3 RBIs. Both Tyler Helm and Jason Coulie joined Nick as the top hitters for the game. Tyler was 3 for 3, with 2 doubles, 4 runs scored, 3 RBIs and 3 SBs. Tyler's first double, was a clutch 2-out bases loaded clearing double, that broke a 4-4 tie and turned the game around. Jason was 4 for 4, with a run scored, a whopping 5 RBIs and a SB. Great pitching and great defense wins games. We had both today, plus our bats continue to be hot. Steve Fabela and Nick Rosen combined for 1 earned run between them, Nick giving up 0 ERs. Nick is still on fire at the plate as well, with 4 hits and 4 RBIs. Tyler Helm had 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 SBs. Rafa Arroyo, Julio Abuguarde and Josh McBride each had a double, as well. This win is especially nice, as it was the first time we faced the A's since being knocked out of the playoffs by them last year. We look to keep it going against the Indians on May 21. The Brewers improved upon their record this Sunday beating the Pericos 13-7, with their bats waking up. The top 6 players in our batting order, Tyler Helm, John Piombo, Nick Rosen, Rafa Arroyo, Jason Coulie and Matthew Farias all had multiple hits and at least 1 RBI each. Nick had 4 hits and 2 stolen bases. Tyler, John and Nick all scored 3 runs, with Jason and John getting 3 RBIs each. Tyler, John, Nick, Jason and Matthew each had a double. Ricardo Gomez started at pitcher and gave us 4 2/3 strong innings, followed by Matt Scott who pitched 2 1/3 and picked up the Win. Nick closed it out with 2 innings, 0 ERs, and picked up the Save.
In their opening day game against the Burros, your Central Valley Brewers struggled offensively and defensively, committing 7 errors on the field and leaving 7 runners in scoring position, resulting in a 7-0 loss. The game was scoreless through 5 innings and the Brewers were only down 1-0 after 6 innings, but things fell apart in the 7th. The Brewers had 8 hits, but were ultimately missing the timely hit needed to change the game. Pitching was the lone bright spot of the day with 0 earned runs, 13 Ks, and 4 BBs from the combined effort of Steve Fabela Jr, Nick Rosen, Manny Zaragoza, Brian Fabela, Matt Scott, and Jason Coulie. |
